PAT testing in Leeds
Portable appliance testing for offices, shops, landlords and workshops. We are on the NICEIC register for PAT, and every item we test gets a label and a line in your register.
Who we test for
We can test anything with a plug that your staff, tenants or customers use. We work around you, so the business keeps running.
Offices
Computers, monitors, kettles, heaters and extension leads. We unplug most items for a minute or two, so people keep working at their desks.
Shops, cafés and salons
Tills, display lighting, kitchen equipment and hairdryers.
Landlords and letting agents
Appliances you supply with a let, such as the fridge, washing machine and microwave. Often booked with the EICR in the same visit.
Workshops and trades
Power tools, chargers and site lighting, which see harder use and need checking more often.
What does PAT testing cost?
We price PAT testing by the number of items. Tell us roughly how many plugs you have and we will give you a fixed price before we book.
Quotes are free. If you are not sure how many items you have, a quick count of the sockets in use is close enough for a quote.
What you get
A pass or fail label on every item tested.
A register listing each item, where it is and its result.
A certificate for your records, your insurer or your letting agent.
Common questions
Is PAT testing a legal requirement?
No law sets a fixed interval for PAT testing. Employers do have a legal duty under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 to keep electrical equipment safe, and landlords have a duty to make sure the appliances they supply are safe. A PAT test with a written record is the most common way to show you have done that, and many insurers and letting agents ask for one.
How often should appliances be tested?
It depends on the equipment and how hard people use it. Office equipment needs testing less often than power tools on a building site. We will suggest a sensible interval for each type of item and put the next test date on the label.
What happens if something fails?
We label it as failed, tell you why, and take it out of use so nobody plugs it back in.
Do you need to switch everything off?
Only one item at a time, for a minute or two. We test computers when it suits you, so nobody loses work.
Can you do the EICR at the same visit?
Yes. An EICR checks the fixed wiring in the building and a PAT test checks the appliances plugged into it. Landlords and businesses often book both together, which saves a second visit.
