What counts as an emergency

If you are not sure whether it can wait, ring and describe it. We will tell you honestly whether it needs someone tonight or whether it is safe to leave until morning, and booking it in for normal hours costs you less.

Total loss of power

Whole house or whole circuit dead, and nothing comes back when you reset the board. Often a failed main switch, a damaged cable or a fault on the incoming supply.

Burning smell or scorch marks

Hot sockets, browning around a switch, or that sharp plastic smell near the fuse board. Turn it off at the board and ring us. This one does not wait until morning.

A breaker that keeps tripping

An RCD or breaker that trips again the moment you reset it is telling you something is wrong. We find the faulty circuit rather than guessing at it. Our guide to why electrics keep tripping covers what to check first.

Water near the electrics

A leak into a light fitting, a flooded cellar with sockets in it, or storm damage to an outside supply. We isolate it first, then put it right.

What does it cost?

Quotes are free. If you want us out to price up planned work, that visit costs you nothing. The charges below are for fault finding and emergency attendance, where you are paying for the time to come out, trace the problem and make it safe.

A visit booked in normal working hours is £90. A same-day emergency call out is £120. You will hear which one applies on the phone, before anyone sets off.

Out of hours, weekends and bank holidays are £180. Parts, materials and the repair itself are quoted separately, and nothing extra goes ahead without your say so.

How an emergency call works

You describe the fault on the phone. We tell you straight whether it needs someone tonight or whether it can wait.

The call out figure is agreed before we set off, not once we are stood on your doorstep.

Made safe first. Then a fixed written price for the permanent repair, quoted free.

Common questions

How quickly can you get to me?

We work from a Leeds base and cover the LS postcodes, so most call outs are a short drive rather than a trip across the county. Ring and describe what has happened and you will get a straight answer on timing before you commit to anything.

What do you charge to come out?

Nothing, if you want a quote. Coming out to price up planned work such as a rewire, a new consumer unit or CCTV is free and without obligation.

Fault finding is different, because you are paying for the time to trace the problem rather than for a price. A visit booked in normal working hours is £90, a same-day emergency call out is £120, and out of hours, weekends and bank holidays are £180. You will be told which one applies on the phone, before anyone sets off. Parts and the repair itself are then quoted separately.

Is my problem actually an emergency?

If there is a burning smell, scorch marks, exposed wiring, or water getting into anything electrical, treat it as one: switch it off at the consumer unit and ring. A single dead socket or one light out is usually safe to book in for normal hours, which also costs you less. If you are unsure, describe it on the phone and we will tell you honestly which it is. If the same circuit keeps failing, the problem is usually the installation rather than a one-off fault, and a rewire is the real answer.

Do you cover nights, weekends and bank holidays?

The phone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A call out at a weekend, on a bank holiday or outside normal working hours is £180, against £120 for a same-day emergency in the week and £90 for a booked visit. If it is not urgent, booking it into normal hours is the cheaper option and we will tell you so rather than let you pay the out of hours rate for nothing.

What should I do before we arrive?

If you can do it safely, switch the affected circuit off at the consumer unit and leave it off. Do not keep resetting a breaker that keeps tripping, because it is tripping for a reason. If water is involved, stay away from it and turn the power off at the main switch. Then send a photo of your consumer unit on WhatsApp if you can, because it often tells us what we are coming to before we arrive.

Covering Leeds, Otley and Wetherby

The whole of Leeds, from the city centre out to the LS1 to LS18 postcodes, plus Otley and Wetherby. On an emergency that distance is the whole point: a local electrician is the difference between waiting an hour and waiting all night.

Something not right with your electrics?

Ring Craig on 07725 658319. If it can wait, send a photo on WhatsApp and we will come straight back to you.
