Chargers we fit

We fit these three brands. If you already have a charger in mind, tell us and we will say whether it suits your house.

Hypervolt

A compact smart charger you control from an app. You can set it to charge on a cheaper overnight tariff, and it suits most driveways.

Zappi

Made by myenergi. If you have solar panels, a Zappi can charge the car from the surplus your panels produce instead of sending it back to the grid.

Tesla Wall Connector

Made for Tesla cars, though it charges other makes too.

Business and workplace charging

Chargers for staff and customer parking, often fitted alongside other commercial electrical work.

What does an EV charger installation cost?

Three things set the price: how far the charger is from your fuse board, whether the board has room and protection for a new circuit, and the route the cable takes. A charger on the wall next to the board costs less than one at the end of a long drive.

Some older fuse boards cannot take a charger safely. If yours is one of them, we tell you at the survey and price the fuse box replacement separately, so you can see what each part costs.

Quotes are free. We look at your supply, your board and where you park, then give you one fixed price in writing.

How pricing works

Common questions

Do I need a new fuse box for an EV charger?

Not always. A charger needs its own circuit with the right protection, so your board needs a spare way and the correct type of RCD. Many boards fitted in the last ten years can take one. Older boards, and anything with a wooden back or rewireable fuses, usually need replacing first. We check this at the free survey and tell you before you commit to anything.

Is there a grant for an EV charger?

If you rent, or you own a flat with private parking, a government grant may cover part of the cost. Homeowners who live in a house have not been eligible since 2022. The grant is claimed through an approved installer and comes off the invoice.

Do you tell the electricity network about the charger?

Yes. The local network operator has to know about every home charger, and in Leeds that is Northern Powergrid. We send the notification for you. If your house has an older or shared supply, the network may need to check it before the charger can go in. We tell you at the survey if that applies.

How long does the installation take?

Most standard installs are done in a single visit. Longer cable runs, or a fuse board change on the same day, add time.

Which charger should I choose?

If you have solar panels, a Zappi lets you charge from your own power. If you drive a Tesla, the Wall Connector is the simplest choice. Most other drivers get what they need from a Hypervolt. We will recommend one at the survey based on your car, your tariff and your house.

Can you put the charger on the front of the house?

Usually, yes. It needs to be within reach of where you park and the cable needs a sensible route from the board. If you live in a conservation area or a listed building, check with the council before you book.
