What we install

Most CCTV firms are alarm companies who subcontract the wiring. We are the other way round: electricians who install security properly, with neat cabling and certified power.

CCTV camera systems

HD and 4K systems with night vision and phone playback, positioned to cover the approaches that matter.

Intruder alarms

Wired and wireless alarms for homes and business premises. We install new Texecom and AJAX systems rather than taking over someone else’s kit.

Security lighting

PIR floodlights and dusk to dawn lighting that removes the dark corners burglars look for.

Smoke and heat alarms

Interlinked mains powered detection to current regulations, often fitted in the same visit as other domestic electrical work.

What does it cost?

The price depends on how many cameras you need, whether the system is wired or wireless, and how footage is stored. A single wireless camera or doorbell is an inexpensive job; a full wired system costs more because of the installation time involved.

A full wired four camera system on a typical house is around £1,700. Higher specification systems, with wider coverage and longer storage, run up to £3,000. Quotes are free and without obligation.

Common questions

Do I need permission to install CCTV at my home?

No permission is needed to fit CCTV on your own property. If a camera can see beyond your boundary, such as a shared path or a neighbour’s garden, data protection rules apply and you should be able to justify what it covers. We position cameras so they protect your property while keeping coverage of other people’s space to a minimum, and we set up privacy masking where it helps.

How much does CCTV installation cost?

It varies with camera count, cable runs and storage. A single camera or video doorbell is an inexpensive job. A full wired four camera system on a typical house is around £1,700, and higher specification systems run up to £3,000. Every job gets a fixed written quote before we start, and quoting is free, so you will know the exact figure up front.

Is a wired or wireless system better?

Wired systems are more reliable, record continuously and never need charging, which is why we usually recommend them where cabling is practical. Wireless cameras suit rentals, outbuildings and spots where running cable is disruptive. As electricians we can run cable discreetly in places alarm installers often cannot, so you get a genuine choice rather than a default.

Can you upgrade or replace an existing system?

Usually yes for CCTV. Often the existing cabling is reusable and only the cameras or recorder need replacing, which keeps the cost well below a new installation. With alarms we prefer to fit a new Texecom or AJAX system rather than take over an existing one. Send us a photo of what you have and we will tell you honestly which makes sense.

Who actually does the work?

Craig and the Coleman team. We are a Leeds based NICEIC registered electrical firm, so the same people who quote your job install it, certify the electrical work and show you how everything works before leaving the site tidy. The same team runs our emergency call out service, so if anything goes wrong later you are ringing the people who fitted it.
